Day 29
What has happened to us becomes the means of God working through us.
‘For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.’ (2 CORINTHIANS 1:5)
There were two sides to Moses’ past. On the one side, he was born a child of an oppressed and abused people, growing up lost to his true identity in an alien world. On the other side, Moses was brought into the royal palace of the Pharaoh, legally adopted as a prince of Egypt, with all the privileges of royalty, educated in all the considerable wisdom of the Egyptians and living among the oppressors.
Why did Moses have to be born of Hebrew slaves? Only a delivered person can become a deliverer. Only a rescued person can become a rescuer.
Maybe you wish you had been born into a different family, in different circumstances, in a different place with different opportunities. But you weren’t! Every one of us is unique and God uses all the pieces of our lives, histories, abilities, strengths, weaknesses and even our frustrations as a means of enabling us to help and bless others.
The problems Moses lived through all prepared him for things to come. He is using the dark tunnels in your life, as well as its joys, for things you don’t yet know about. Your past may not be what you would have chosen, but one day you may see why it was moulding and equipping you for something good.
Do you embrace your past? How is God using your challenges to prepare you for the future?
