Day 30
Jesus Christ is sufficient for the deep needs in our lives.
‘When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”’ (JOHN 8:12)
The answer to every dilemma Jesus faced was always Himself. There are a number of ‘I am’ statements in John’s Gospel and they are all given in situations of need. When the people were hungry and He fed the 5,000 with loaves and fishes, Jesus said, ‘I am the bread of life’ (John 6:35). At the tomb of Lazarus He said, ‘I am the resurrection and the life’ (John 11:25). To the blind man He said, ‘I am the light of the world’ (John 9:5).
His invitation was ‘Come to me’ (Matthew 11:28). In fact the entire ministry of Jesus was centered on Himself.
He was not, like John the Baptist, sent to ‘bear witness to the Light’ for He is the light, and His own witness stops with Himself (John 1:7 KJV). Never detach what Jesus does from who He is. His ability to do what He does comes from Him being who He is. No wonder Paul writes, ‘For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ’ (2 Corinthians 1:20). Every promise of God has its fulfillment in Christ.
Don’t look outside of Christ for solutions. He is Himself the solution. As we relate all our circumstances to Jesus we find Him to be adequate!
Are there circumstances in your life you need to turn over to Jesus?
