Day 17

Charles Price

God chose to work through people to do His work on earth.

‘I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.’ (EZEKIEL 22:30)

God’s strategy in the world is people. Think about it. You can be sure that somewhere along the line another human was involved in your coming to Christ. That’s why we find so often in Scripture that God is looking for a person to do His work. In Ezekiel 22:30 God says, ‘I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land.’ it might be more effective if God delegated evangelism to angels but that’s not how God works. If I announced that the angel Gabriel was speaking on the next Sunday, I’m sure the church would be packed. That’s not God’s strategy. God uses people – ordinary people. We talk about reaching our world for Christ and about each church being a missional community – but this can only happen when God finds willing, obedient and dependent people who are willing to be available to Him. It’s about saying, ‘Yes, Lord. I’m willing to present my body as a living sacrifice to You.’ We are Christ’s body on earth, the means by which He does His work.

Lord, here I am. I will be Your servant. Use me today as I yield to You.
