Day 31

Charles Price

Christians are people of ‘The Book.’

‘He said to me, “Son of man, eat this scroll I am giving you and fill your stomach with it.” So I ate it, and it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth.’ (EZEKIEL 3:3)

The Word of God is the source and authority behind everything we as Christians believe, everything we say, and everything we do. Our English word, Bible, comes from the plural word, “Biblos,” meaning library. It’s made up of sixty-six books. It was written by more than forty authors over a period of one thousand five hundred years in three different languages: Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek. It’s a book that contains history, poetry, doctrine, ethics and prophecy. In it are stories of war, love, political intrigue, murder and adultery. If you want a good story, this book probably has it!

The heart of the Bible’s message is how God, our Creator, intervenes by becoming a man in order to restore fallen humanity into a relationship with Himself. This relationship is living, permanent, eternal, and effective here and now, in this life as well as the future. Whether we are on earth or in heaven, whether in the present or in the future, whether in the body or out of the body, ‘we may live together with him’ (1 Thessalonians 5:10). That is the story of the Bible, and that is what we need to know and enjoy.

We need to feed on the Word of God and allow its truth to become part of us.
